
Sherry has coached for ATAC for the past 10 years, leading the Age Group program for the past 6 years. As Head Age Group Coach, Sherry oversees all of the 12 and under swimmers, tracking their development and progress throughout the season. She is responsible for hiring, training, and developing teaching skills for all Age Group coaches. She also keeps the parents informed on a weekly basis of schedules and events.
For 1989 until 1998 Sherry owned an operated Sherry's Swim School out of Mansfield and taught over 1800 students ages 2 years to 65. Sherry's teaching philosophy is to teach students to have respect for the water and at the same time love it. She formerly coached for Swim Team Arlington (STAR), now Mid-Cities/Arlington Swimmers (MARS). At STAR, Sherry was in charge of all beginning level swimmers including two different ability groups. Under her coaching, STAR swam to success at the Munchkin (10-under) Championships finishing with first and second-place trophies.
Sherry traveled for two years (1986-1987) as a supervisor for Barney's Big Surprise Stage Production. Sherry worked with the child actors teaching swimming as part of the children's P.E. requirement as they traveled to over 70 cities. Her son, Trent, was one of the child actors.
Currently, along with her duties at ATAC, Sherry works as an assistant Coach for Greenhill School teaching strokes and games to 1st - 3rd grade students and coaches 7th-8th grade middle school swim team. Sherry has coached summer league (DASA) for several years with teams Signature Athletic Club (3 years), Brookhaven Country Club (2 years), and with TBarM Raquet Club.
She is married to Mike. They have three former ATAC swimmers: Courtney, Casey, and Trent. Sherry enjoys camping, boating, fishing, and reading in her spare time. She especially enjoys spending time with her grand-daughters.
