In 1995, she was selected as a coach for the Illinois Select camp and was also selected as one of the Assistant Coaches for US Swimming’s Long Distance Camp in Fort Lauderdale, FL. During her coaching in Illinois, she also worked for The John Marshall Law School as the Assistant Registrar.

In 1996, Amy left Chicago and moved to Texas were she served as Assistant Men’s and Women’s coach at TCU until 2000. At TCU, Amy recruited swimmers for the program, traveling to national and international meets.  She mainly worked with the IM swimmers and Distance Swimmers. While at TCU, the Women’s team was ranked in the top 25 for the first time.  She worked closely with TCU’s head strength coach to develop the teams dryland and strength training program. After TCU, Amy left the swim world for a while to work as the Dallas District Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, an organization that raises funds to help local families affected by this family of diseases.  From there, Amy returned to swimming, serving as Facility Director for Emler Swim School in Arlington. There she not only was in charge of the running of the school but also contributed to the revision of the swim curriculum and training of teachers and managers.  Currently Amy is the Operations Manager for Highland Homes but wanted to get back to coaching, teaching children the greatest sport in the world.

Amy has her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois in Business and her Masters from TCU in Kinesiology with her emphasis in Sport Psychology.  During her own USS swim career, Amy swam for the Joliet Jets where she was a national qualifier in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke and the 400 free relay and 800 free relay.  She was a 4-year athletic scholarship swimmer and letterman and while at WIU, held school records in the 200 IM and relays.  She was a finalist all four years in the WAC conference in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and 200 and 400 IM and champion in the 100 Breaststroke.  She was team captain for 3 years and MVP for 3 years. She was the first female athlete to receive Western’s Laurie Meyer Potter Scholarship, which is awarded to the athlete who most exhibits drive, talent and determination.

Amy is an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church where she is a member of the Celebration Choir and Praise Team.  She is also the Youth Choir Director and directs the youth musical drama during the spring. She loves to run as well as weight train. She and her husband, Ron, have been married for 5 years and have a 4 year old daughter, Skyler who loves horses, swimming, gymnastics and singing.

Amy is excited to be apart of the ATAC team.  Swimming is the greatest sport that is a life-long sport.  It is the Great Disciplinarian, teaching young athletes about commitment, goal setting and an appreciation for hard work.
